For a while, BOTM seemed to be moving away from repeat authors and prioritizing debuts. While I still think that debut authors are more likely to get selected, July featured several returning authors. This threw off my predictions, causing me to select 2 of the 5 main selections. I actually had The Connellys of County Down slated for August, so its early release took me by surprise.
Once again, August has the potential to feature several repeat authors. I included many of these selections, but left a couple off my list. For example, Alice Hoffman’s The Invisible Hour barely missed the cut.
What do I think is in store for August?
For those of you who are new here, Book of the Month is a subscription box where you get to pick a new release hardback book to be sent to you every month.
